群馬県にある吉井カントリークラブで開催されている、国内女子ツアー「SANKYOレディースオープン」の2日目。前半を終了した全美貞(ジョン・ミジョン)(韓国)が、トータル7アンダーまでスコアを伸ばし単独首位に立っている。
2打差の2位はインビー・パーク(韓国)、3位タイには不動裕理らがつけている。有村智恵はスコアを伸ばせずトータル3アンダー6位タイに後退、横峯さくらはトータルイーブンパー19位タイ、上田桃子はトータル4オーバー45位タイの位置につけている。

国内男子ツアー「三井住友VISA太平洋マスターズ」の2日目は、降雨によるコースコンディションの不良のため、2度の中断を繰り返したあと、13時44分にサスペンデッドが決定。今大会は54ホールの短縮競技となった。

初日59位タイと出遅れていた石川遼は、いつ再開されてもいいように集中力を切らさず雨の中しっかりと打ち込みを行った。しかし結局スタートすることはなかった。「試合中でしか得られないものはあるので、18ホールできなくなったのはもったいない。(大好きなコースで)長い時間プレーしたかったのですが」と残念そうだったが「仕方がない。明日、明後日なんとか頑張っていきたいです」と切り替えた。
ちなみに石川が、残りの試合で手にすることができる最大賞金は1億250万円。(三井住友VISA太平洋マスターズ 54ホールのため2,250万円、カシオワールド・日本シリーズ各4,000万円)。ベ・サンムン(韓国)との差が6,061万円のため、現時点では逆転賞金王の可能性は残している。だが、サンムンが今大会で優勝した場合、石川は単独9位以内に入らないと賞金王の可能性はなくなってしまう。
首位とは8打差の石川。残り36ホールでどこまで上り詰めることができるか。明日は9時35分にスタートする。

しかし、このサスペンデッドという判断に選手サイドから疑問の声が上がった。「サスペンデッドにするなら72ホール競技にする。54ホールなら一度キャンセル(この日スタートした選手のスコアをリセットする)しては？」。池田勇太や増田伸洋、近藤共弘らが納得のいかない判断に異議を唱えた。
サスペンデッドならこの日プレーした数名の選手は、明日はその続きをプレーをしなくてはならない。キャンセルにした場合は、選手全員同じ条件で最初から第2ラウンドをプレーすることができる。明日は天気が回復するとはいえ、雨の中スコアを落とした選手が、明日残りのホールをプレーするのはアンフェアというのが選手の考えだ。
池田や近藤はこの日スタートしていないが、ロッカールームでは「スタートしていない選手のほうが、スタートした選手がかわいそうと言っている」。石川遼も「サスペンデッドなら決断する時間が早かったのでは？」と話し、キャンセルなら54ホール、サスペンデッドなら72ホールというのが頭にあったようだ。
これについてJGTOの小山ツアーディレクターは、ジャパンゴルフツアートーナメント規定にある『一度ストロークした打数はカウントしたことを原則とする』という理念に基づきサスペンデッドにしたと説明。あらゆる状況を想定して今回のことが決まった。
だが、この規定はその後『ツアーディレクターが天候等であらゆる状況を考慮し、そのラウンドを取り消さないと著しく不公平になると判断したときは、当該ツアーディレクターは、大会関係者との協議の上、そのラウンドをキャンセルすることができる』とう文言が続く。“著しく不公平”とはどこに当たるのか、ということに選手たちは首を傾げた。
この判断は覆ることはなく、選手たちも明日は気持ちを切り替えてプレーするしかない。JGTO側は「選手の意見をまったく聞かないというわけではありません。今回の体験は無にしません」と話したが、少し後味の悪い判断となった。

「昨日も話したけど、やることをやるだけだから。72ホールでも54ホールでもどっちでもいいと思ってた。でも自分はリードしている立場だから、短期決戦になるなら有利じゃない。07年のアコムで54ホール短縮で優勝しているしね。みんなから雨に強いって言われるけど、短縮で優勝できなかったこともあるし、残り2日やるだけです」

SHANGHAI (Reuters) - Long-hitting American Dustin Johnson matched the Sheshan Golf Club course record to surge into a commanding five-stroke lead after the second round of the $8.5 million WGC-HSBC Champions tournament on Friday.
On a day when first round leader Rory McIlroy's season-long struggles returned to haunt him on the back nine and pushed the Northern Irishman back into a tie for second with Americans Bubba Watson and Boo Weekley, Johnson was in a class of his own.
He plundered six birdies in the first seven holes en route to a nine-under-par 63 on another pleasant day at Sheshan to rocket up the leaderboard after ending the first day in a tie for eighth.
"I played really well the last two days," said Johnson, who posted a 12-under-par 132 halfway total.
"Yesterday, I was one-over through nine holes and then played good on the front side, which was my back side, and then I started right back up today and played really good on the front."
Johnson is an aggressive player and he vowed to try to increase his lead, rather than protect it, over the final two rounds.
He has won seven times on the PGA Tour but is perhaps best known for blowing a chance to win the 2010 U.S. PGA Championship when he received a two-stroke penalty for grounding a club in a sandy lie on the 72nd hole that cost him a place in a playoff.
McIlroy, meanwhile, had threatened to run away with the tournament when he recorded three successive birdies to charge to 10-under after eight holes.
CONFIDENCE KNOCKED
However, his swing deserted him on the back nine. A poor drive at the difficult par-four 11th led to a bogey and it was a struggle from that point on as he battled to an even-par 72.
McIlroy identified his drive at the par-four 13th as the turning point of his round.
"I hit a bad drive up the left and that sort of knocked my confidence a little bit and I started to struggle from there," he admitted.
"I just hit a couple of bad shots and then I guess I just let it affect me a little bit and then I started to doubt myself sometimes.
"I didn't hit a lot of quality shots on the back nine. I missed the last six greens in a row, so a bit of work is needed on the range this afternoon."
Weekley (67) made a sluggish start, hitting the ball poorly by his own admission, but a wayward shot into the water at his fifth hole seemed to light a fire inside him.
He sank a 25-footer to save par and promptly reeled off three straight birdies from his seventh hole.
Weekley, a self-confessed redneck from the Florida Panhandle region, was asked whether he enjoyed the Chinese culture.
"It's fun. Just can't understand them," he said in his thick southern drawl, before adding he had no plans for sightseeing trips in China, because "I don't need to see nothing".
Watson, who hails from the same area as Weekley, shot a 69 that included a double bogey from the middle of the fairway at the 10th.
"I left a lot of putts out there," the 2012 Masters champion said.
Japanese prospect Hideki Matsuyama pulled out before the round due to a back injury.

Singapore (AFP) - Tiger Woods is "moving forward" after a Golf Channel analyst who insinuated he cheated went on TV to admit he had made a mistake, his agent told AFP on Friday.
Mark Steinberg, speaking at an appearance in Singapore, signalled the world number one was keen to draw a line under a row which had raised the threat of legal action.
"We're not going to comment any further, we're done," said Steinberg, as Woods held a clinic for young golfers and dyslexic children at the Marina Bay Sands casino-hotel.
"We're done speaking about it. I've got a lot of work to do ahead of me and Tiger's got a lot to do ahead of him, so we're just moving forward."
Steinberg had said he was considering a libel suit after analyst Brandel Chamblee wrote an article accusing Woods of bending the rules following a series of penalties this year.
On Wednesday, in his first televised comments on the issue, Chamblee admitted he "went too far", but stopped short of making a full apology.
"Cheating involves intent," Chamblee said. "There's no way that I could know with 100 percent certainty what Tiger's intent was in any of those situations. That was my mistake."
Chamblee's explanation mirrors his initial response to Steinberg, when he issued tweets admitting he had been unfair to Woods, but then said he stood by his comments.
Woods, who is in the midst of a series of promotional engagements in Asia, had earlier indicated he would leave it to the Golf Channel to act on Chamblee.
"The whole issue has been very disappointing as he (Chamblee) didn't really apologise and he sort of reignited the whole situation," he said in China on Monday.
"But so as far as I am concerned I'm going to put it behind me and move forward, so the ball really is in the court of the Golf Channel and what they are prepared to do."
Woods did not speak to the media during his appearance in Singapore, which coincides with the $8.5 million WGC-HSBC Champions, dubbed "Asia's major", in Shanghai.
Organisers are reportedly disappointed that Woods, who also made two lucrative appearances in China and Macau this week, is missing the tournament for the second year in a row.
Steinberg admitted that Woods had known for "more than a year" -- before he skipped last season's edition -- that he wouldn't be present in Shanghai.
And he added that it wasn't certain that Woods would attend next year, with his 2014 schedule not yet finalised.
But he insisted relations remained good with title sponsor HSBC, and there was no extra pressure to attend what is Asia's richest tournament.
"We had a number of other corporate engagements that I've had scheduled for quite some time, well over a year, throughout Asia," Steinberg said.
"It was just a straight conflict, that was it... We've had a terrific relationship with HSBC for many, many years. It's strictly a scheduling issue."
Such is the appeal of Woods that his attendance can have a major impact on the profile of a tournament, boosting the visibility of its sponsors.
